Hillary or Bust

About

I am a female GenXer and lifelong Democrat who originally supported Hillary but also liked Obama. As I found out more about Obama, I became increasingly disturbed by him. The media’s remarkable bias towards Obama, coupled with the rampant sexism expressed in this campaign, was the final straw. I will fight Obama’s candicacy not only as a protest to the DNC that women matter, but to fight media bias, liberal group-think, and sexism. Obama, from my research, is an insincere, corrupt man who is dangerous due to his charisma and cult-like following. I will not sit idly by and let him win a presidency based on lies and the slander of one of the most courageous, smart women in politics: Hillary Clinton.

Update: September 1, 2008 – Yes, We’re For Real

PUMA is the movement of Hillary supporters who are saying not to “unity” in the Democratic party and fighting what we believe is a coup of the party by Obama and his minions.

Months after I began this blog…after PUMA has appeared on national news and has in no small part influenced McCain’s decision to choose Saran Palin as his vice president, people on the left doubt the reality of PUMA.

My own father, who is a rabid Democrat getting most of his news from Keith Olbermann rather than doing real homework on the election, actually said to my face that PUMA was a Republican front. I said to him, “Dad, do I look like a Republican spy to you?”

I guess I can see why many male Democrats can’t wrap their brains around PUMA. As men, they don’t understand what it’s like to be a woman in this country. They have no idea the passion we women felt for Hillary, or how betrayed we felt when the nomination was stolen from her.

I see it with men I know. Most of my male friends and acquaintances on the left just don’t get it. They haven’t done their research on Obama. They are voting for him solely because he’s a Democrat and not Bush. Well, I don’t like Bush either. But I’m not so stupid or gullible to vote for a Democrat only because he’s a Democrat when I see something is rotten in Denmark. I’ve done my homework – I know Obama stole the primary nomination. And this was possible in no small part due to the sexism against Hillary.

It’s further evidence of latent sexism when you try to tell the men you know – whether it’s a male friend or family member – that there was indeed caucus fraud and irregularities in the Democratic primaries, and they blow you off because you are just “looney tunes” for Hillary. I’ve heard it all. The denial is astonishing. And deep underneath that, is a very real resentment and hatred of Hillary, brought upon by an insidious Obama smear campaign that made out Bill Clinton’s fantastic presidency into a failure.

So I guess it’s not surprising that these same leftist men can’t believe that PUMA is actually a real grass-roots movement of real Democrats. We not Republicans in disguise, we’re not trying to inflate our numbers, we’re a force.

But go ahead – ignore us, and pretend we don’t matter. I for one have been so deeply offended by the behavior of men on the left in this election that I am not sure if I will ever fully come back to the Democratic party ever. The likes of the guys at KOS, with their hateful misogynist rants against Hillary and now Sarah Palin, have done more to push real Democratic women (and many men) away from the party than any Republican “spy” might have done.

Accomplices in this mission are some young women who are so angry at other women and in denial about the real sexism that they face, that they continually spit in the face of PUMAs and any woman who wants to support Sarah Palin.

Good job, guys, for showing us what the left is really about: Hatred, denial, and misogyny. Thanks for driving me away from the Democratic party. I hope you are happy now.
