Hillary Taft – Founder
I started this blog to express my frustration during the 2008 primaries – it then organically became part of the greater “Just Say No Deal” and PUMA coalitions to try to secure the Democratic nomination for Hillary Clinton. Hillary Taft is a pseudonym created from the names Hillary Clinton and Lydia Taft, the first woman to vote in America in 1756. I never used my real name with this blog due to the excessive hostility from many Obama supporters, who harassed many Hillary supporters when we did not show our support for Obama. I will continue to use a pseudonym, as things may get heated again for the next election, and I also enjoy being able to speak my mind here without worrying that it’s associated with my real name.
As for personal details, I can tell you that I am in my late 30s, and I live in Los Angeles. I am a freelance writer among other things. Politically, I was historically a Democrat up until the 2008 election, when I saw my party disenfranchise women and perpetrate voter fraud (in the caucuses) in an effort to push Obama through to the White House. I am now without party. Socially, I lean liberal, and I am pro-choice, pro-gay-rights, and pro-environment. Fiscally, I tend to lean more towards traditional conservative ideals of frugality and limited government. I’d actually be a Libertarian except for their stance on the environment, because I believe we need national parks and government oversight to keep the environment healthy. (In fact, I score as a left-leaning Libertarian on the “World’s Smallest Political Quiz.”)
Carolyn Criss
I am an author living in Colorado with two beautiful daughters and an ex-socialist husband. My first novel, a cozy mystery, debuts in March 2009 under my real name. Shocked by the Obama worship oozing from a local author community, I donned the penname, Carolyn Criss, and embarked on a political crusade. I am currently drafting a Libertarian novel (http://www.lydiasdissent.com/) and maintaining a conservative blog (http://lostlibertarian.typepad.com/). Although I also consider myself liberal leaning on the social issues, my primary concerns are economic matters and the decay of individual rights, and therefore, I call myself a Libertarian conservative.
After learning about the PUMA movement, I stumbled upon Hillary Taft’s blog in September of 2008. Ms. Taft’s astute posts regarding brutal media attacks on Sarah Palin and blatant sexism stewing in the Democratic Party are thought provoking and informative. I bookmarked her blog and have enjoyed reading it ever since. I am quite pleased to be invited to contribute to this website and look forward to stirring the political pot in the year to come.
